Edward Wayne Edwards. Serial killer. Zodiacal Magus. The man behind the crosshair.
Steganography hidden in ransom notes, bind runes in cattle brands, descending acrostics in letters nobody read correctly for fifty years.
Every video decodes another layer of the traveling codeset.
One Man. One Cipher. Fifty Years.
Edward Wayne Edwards was convicted of murdering two couples and a single male — his adopted son, Dannie Boy (D.B.) Edwards — before his death in federal custody in 2011. This confirmed body count is ominously similar to the canonical number and types of murders the Zodiac Killer is known for.
Edwards would eventually be named by a retired policeman as not only the Zodiac Killer, but as the perpetrator of some of the most infamous murder cases in American history — JonBenét Ramsey, Laci Peterson, Teresa Halbach, and the Black Dahlia among them.
Inside those letters are hidden coded messages using steganography — hidden writing present in plain sight, invisible to anyone who doesn't know the alphabet used to write it. This channel decodes them all.
"Inside of the letters are purported to be found hidden coded messages, using a specific type of encryption called steganography — hidden writing, present in plain sight, invisible to anyone who doesn't know the alphabet used to write it."
— EdEdwardsCiphers Channel Description"The crosshair wasn't just a brand. SIKIKEY wasn't just a word. S.B.T.C. wasn't just initials. Every mark he left was a working. Every letter he sent was a credential."
— The Traveling Codeset Research SeriesHow to Really Make a Murderer Pt. 2
The origin story of the Zodiac continues. Edwards built a walking bio file — names, dates, locations — that he handed to police officers, always placing himself adjacent to major crimes. He was keeping tabs on his own case because he knew no one else could read what he had left behind.
